VGA driver install failing

#1 Post by drschwartz » Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:02 pm

I'm trying to upgrade the video driver on my son's T41 with this. The instructions say to uninstall the current driver first which I did. But, then, when I went to install the new driver, it failed saying that I needed to install a VGA driver. So I re-booted the machine, the OS recognized the new hardware and offered to install a new driver. When I attempted this, it failed saying that it couldn't find a particular file (not identifying which file it was).

So I'm stuck with no video driver on the T41. Any advice as to what I can do to get this working?

TIA,
David

T41, Windows XP SP3 (ignore my footer)

Install them manually. Just be aware that when you run the installer is does not actually install the driver. It extracts the files into a folder on your C drive under /Drivers. You'll have to navigate to that subfolder for each driver and run the .exe to install the driver/s.
