Fastest T500 available

#1 Post by tzmueller » Sat Nov 28, 2009 8:52 pm

I need a new laptop at work to replace my T60. They gave me a budget of $4000.

Just wondering what the fastest and best configuration I could get for that price. I would like the newest dock and a 128GB SSD and approx 8GB of memory. I don't play games but I use 3 monitors (maybe 4 if I could).

I do alot of database/vmware stuff on my laptop right now and have about 10-20 apps open at any one time including.

A 15" screen works for me (since I only use it when I am at home) but I wouldn't mind a 17" screen. Dollar for dollar I just want the fastest system Lenovo has to offer in the T series.

thanks.

The W700 has a better WUXGA screen than what's offered on the T or W series. Plus you can get a quad core on the W700. I think you can do four monitors with the Advanced Dock and the T500 or W500. I don't know if it's doable on the W700 with the dock. The W700 dock does have three video hook ups - dvi, vga and display port.

If I had a $4K budget, forget the advanced dock, get several monitors with displaylink http://www.displaylink.com/ which allows multiple monitor setup. You can also get the advanced dock with the displaylink if you need to plug in external keyboard etc...
