t400 Fax modem?

T400 with standard "Thinkpad modem adapter" in device manager. I bring up the Windows 7 Fax and Scan utility and it wants to connect to a fax modem. I go through the steps and it can't find one. This modem will fax won't it? Anyone else tried this?

Is the ThinkPad Modem Adapter driver installed properly?
Mine doesn't detect it either, but making it auto detect disabled my USB mouse (had to unplug/replug).

Perhaps it doesn't work unless it's actually hooked up to a modem cable?
