EXCHANGE...of Windows 7 Dvd
FOR W500 CTO (4058 series)
I have A genuine LENOVO windows 7 Prof x64 bit Dvd , and would like to EXCHGANGE it for a Lenovo win7 prof 32 bit Dvd. The Lisc Key is USED
if someone can email me > *******i], first with details. I would be happy to pay for shipments of both items is nesessary.
However I could also use a x32 bit Dvd , if someone wants to lend me their Dvd I would be happy to install using my OWN KEY supplied by lenovo- as ma told my MS that x32 & x64 keys are interchangeable as long as ONLY ONE of them is in use.
Thanks in advance
mike

There are also Byte Torrent sites. So should I say Bit/Byte Torrent? If that link gets posted here I will see to it that that member gets banned.
Re: EXCHANGE...of Windows 7 Dvd
It kind of sucks that PC makers, both desktop and notebook, infest their machines with bloatware, but give you no way to do a clean install. Even the ThinkVantage Tools can slow performance if you have them all running and no one uses them all. Going to a torrent site and getting a Windows disc is about your only option these days if you want to do a clean install since PC makers rarely give out discs or a way to do it. I personally do not see it as a wrong as long as you have a legit COA or key to activate it, even if it doesn't conform to the letter of the law. I always thought the custom install option of Rescue and Recovery on the T61 era ThinkPads was a great feature. It gave Lenovo I think a leg up on the competition. For some reason, which I never saw, they dropped it. I don't know maybe it was too difficult to implement or they got too many support calls.

Re: EXCHANGE...of Windows 7 Dvd
If you do this a lot you should consider a TechNet subscription, which also gives you keys to evaluate software before you buy it. I ran an evaluation of small business server 2008 and Windows 7, and when I finally bought a new server I was able to just migrate my settings. Same with Windows 7 and Vista before that. I got the keys from Lenovo, but downloaded the ISO images direct from Microsoft. Not only is it perfectly legal, you also get support for the new OS and access to all of the beta versions (evaluating Exchange 2010 and Office 2010 right now).
"An atheist is just somebody who feels about Yahweh the way any decent Christian feels about Thor or Baal or the golden calf. As has been said before, we are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

I don't think in my opinion you should have to pay again for software you legally bought. Convenience should be built in, especially with the kind of margins Microsoft runs on their OS division.

FIRSTLY >...........Thanks everyonefor the discussions/debate on THIS TOPIC = EXCHANGE of DVD
However ....
Fred > THATS 'exectly' why LENOVO changed the R&R - cuase they were getting far too man pple paying around and tinkering with CUSTOM INSTALLS - and thus thinking 'lenovo would fix things for them' when they got into troubles. SO often a "GREAT THING" <in my view that feature was best thing since slice bread and I still do have that copy of R&R on a DVD and it 'still works' in Windows 7 - tested and working well t60p with win7 ulti & SSD>
And , I just think there is a palce for "torrents' downloading mechanisim, but since I am wanted the DVDs for WORK/PROF use , and their policy = " no torrent iso usage" I not prepared to voilate them......
Plus ,, if u read about my torrent file 'example' i have written about ( that was cut and moved by HARRY <thanks mate> to seperate posting> am sure YOU WILL ALL agree to the risks!!!
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=82670
Still , since I didnt get anyone offer that DVD in time , I<we> bought a new separate BOX for x 32 , which after two weeks of testing , that spare DVD; am sure will sit in my desk for looong time !
Cheers !
