#1 Post by FishRman » Wed Dec 02, 2009 2:01 pm

Hello,

Where can I find info if X cpu is supported by the notebook?
I would like to put:

Core 2 Duo Mobile T5900 2,2GHz FSB 800MHz
2MB cache Micro-FCPGA Revision M0
SLB6D T5900
2.20/2M/800/06

into T60 2007-FVG... is it compatible??

First thing to check: the socket. According to Wikipedia, your current processor is Socket M. The T5900 is Socket P; won't work.

(Next, you'd check if your chipset is supported).

In this case, any Socket M processor will work.

Thank you very much for you fast reply. Sorry for my not visiting the forum since my question...
According to the link you posted the T7200, T7400 and T7600 would be ok?
Could you confirm that?

Best regards,

The standard socket M CPUs should work, but variants like the T2450 or T5300 probably will not. If you're looking for a performance boost, upgrading to a faster hard drive or SSD if you've no done so already, is much more likely to provide it than the CPU.

That's not entirely accurate, the Stepping must be 'B2'.

These are the three nicest upgrade choices for a T60 (all of which are 'B2' Stepping) :
SL9SF (T7200, 2.0GHz)
SL9SE (T7400, 2.16GHz)
SL9SD (T7600, 2.33GHz)
