Is there a general consensus on the build quality of newer and older T-series? I remember playing with one of the first T20s and being amazed at the quality, but later I had a T23 (bought new) that I ended up sending back because the case had a lot of flex and the plastics just didn't seem so great.
Currently I have a T22 that is not quite at the level of that first T20 (or my rose-glasses memory anyway), but is a lot better than the T23 I had.
What I would like is to settle on the best built model that offers reasonable (1GHz or more) performance. If my T22 is as good as they get, then I'll just keep it for the long haul.
Essentially I am getting away from the Windows platform, having replaced the family desktop with a Mac and every member of the family with an Apple laptop of varying age (mine is the new 12" PowerBook with superdrive). There are still occasions where I need a PC, and so I will either upgrade my T22 (80GB 5400RPM Travelstar) or replace it.
One reason I would like to replace is to get integrated wireless, though my 3Com PCMCIA does connect just fine. Don't care about b or g wireless, as my DSL isn't fast enough to make a difference.
I also have a lot invested in Ultrabay 2000 drives (floppy, DVD and CDRW), though a combo drive would replace them all easily enough. Also, I don't want the T30 because I've heard battery life is rather poor. I currently get about 3 hours on my T22.

"An atheist is just somebody who feels about Yahweh the way any decent Christian feels about Thor or Baal or the golden calf. As has been said before, we are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

You seem very content with your T22 so why change? If you want to upgrade then take a look at the T42 series which comes in all different flavours.asiafish wrote:What I would like is to settle on the best built model that offers reasonable (1GHz or more) performance.
