Windows update issues xp-pro sp3, media player 9

Just had SP-3 updated on my A31 got media player 9 and it doesnt recognize my CD burner nor does the device manager
am I missing something simple? cause its got me baffled.

System restore will not go back to before I signed WGA about 2 minutes before SP3,so I need to figure out what is keeping the OS from seeing my CD burner.

Any thoughts on generic drivers ??
