Thanks. Been there tried that. Theres no limits to delete in my system files, it see's it as a reader!

I have a cd/dvd rom and driver, reads fine, nothing can recognise it as a writer!

Note to self, self shut off the auto update on all PC's, and laptops, read security updates and install as ness.

I'm thinking that an OEM unit specific driver might help, if I knew what it is. Ill be going back to Lenovo to look at the build specs. and see if theres a specific XP driver for IT!

Then maybe its time to upgrade to a DVD burner that the OS will recognise, after buying 2Gb ram, usb2 card, fast fan, SL6VC, and a B/G wireless card theres no money for a new burner, freakin holidays coming, hmmm.

I thought I be sending joy to the world on my TP by then!

Do you have Record Now installed?

Expansion: your Hitachi drive is only a 24x CD-reader/8x DVD-reader, NOT a writer of any type!

I dont have record now installed, unless its with the lenovo software.

Its the orig hitachi GDR-8081N, I appolgise for wasting our time on this!

I could swear I replaced the cd/dvd rom with a burner.

I wonder if I put it in the R31 I used to have for roadtrips?

Can I/we delete this thread?
