I had a T22 returned to me last week after I upgraded my father-in-law and the display is causing me to question it. I know the the traditional signs of dying backlight is a pinkish or reddish tint that goes away after warmup....at least until it dies for good. This T22 however has a somewhat "washed out" look to it and I've been out of the T2x game for long enough to not really remember whether this is normal as compared to the T4x/R5x series machines.
Actually, my R60 at work tends to look that way somewhat to me at times as well. So I'm kind of up in the air as to thoughts on what's up with it.
Dying backlight or something else all-together?

Maybe you should try to upgrade his laptop instead next time?schen wrote:...after I upgraded my father-in-law...
If it's an original LCD, it's now between 7-10 years old. Those screens tend to wash out after a number of years.
Replacing it with a factory refurb (or a new) would be a good option.
Even just replacing the CCFL will improve it.

At least I haven't been the type to upgrade the wife!
I was afraid that the answer would be the screen replacement. I so don't want to spend money on this machine, but also don't want it to go to waste either!
I suppose that its a telling thing that I've never kept a machine long enough to experience "screen washout".
