How to use Access Connection Instead of Wireless Manager?

#1 Post by dlai » Tue Dec 08, 2009 9:00 pm

My T60p is currently set to use the Win 7 network manager to connect and manage wireless networks. I want to use Access Connections instead but am unsure how to turn off the Win 7 network manager. I have the latest version of Access Connections installed. I can see my WAP within Access Connections but am unable to connect to it via Access Connections. It said that the wireless network is managed by Windows. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm curious whether you found the solution to the problem. I also have a T60P with Win7.

The Access Connections uses windows wireless service as a default bootup and I haven't figured out how to use Access Conn as a default mode..

Currently I just deleted A.C and waiting for an update.

Nope, same problem, still running as I posted. No one seems to know the solution....

wouldn't you need to go to the wireless adaptor itself and remove the setting from there? i will check on my computer and post back.

I just bought a used X301 last Sat. It was configured to use Windows Wireless Manager. I've always liked Access Connections on my T42 & X60s so I downloaded and installed Access Connections and it seems to be operating fine. No answers for your specific cases I realize but proof that it is compatible with Windows 7 and Intel 5100 Wireless. The only glitch is the Acess Conn. icon is taller than any other icons resident in the task bar forcing the taskbar to double width. To gain screen space I just removed it from the task bar.
Cheers from someone who repaired IBM computers w/60,000 vacumn tubes in the early 60's and still hasn't found a better keyboard than IBM's!
