Google or Bing
Now that Microsoft finally came up with a new search engine, I found Bing to be a refreshing change. Bing seems to do much better job with overall relevance and especially image and video search. Which one do you guys use?
Re: Google or Bing
I'd never heard of 'Bing' as a search engine, but your question will prompt me to take a look.

Re: Google or Bing
I have tried both. Google is my default search engine in IE and elsewhere and continues to work very well. I wind up using Bing when searching Microsoft. Microsoft is hardly ever relevant to what I ask, so that colours my perception of Bing. Bing itself works fairly well.
If I need an answer from Microsoft about Microsoft, the chances are better than 95 in 100 that Google will give me what I am looking for.

Re: Google or Bing
yes this is true, when i am looking for a specific answer about Microsoft google seems to give me better results too. how embarrassing for Microsoft! on the other hand when I am looking for a lot of websites about the same topic bing appears to be making better selection.
Re: Google or Bing
One of the intriguing (and embarrassing) things about Microsoft is that if you get: "Errror 12345 - your PC needs a repair of subroutine abcdef in program xyz" and you put the into the Support search window at Microsoft.com, nothing will be found. ... JDH
Re: Google or Bing
Bing is still second rate, and the stupid hoops one must jump thru to get it the hell off of IE and set up Google as the default search engine is a towering annoyance.mattbiernat wrote:Now that Microsoft finally came up with a new search engine, I found Bing to be a refreshing change. Having to do that makes people immediately hostile to the product. Microsoft really needs to learn not to be so danged pushy with that sort of thing.
Re: Google or Bing
Just click on the down arrow beside the Search bar and you can change Search providers.
In addition to being pushy, Microsoft also needs to stop giving things stupid names (Groove, Silverlight and so on). I have no idea what Silverlight is, so it will never be installed on my computers. ... JDH

Re: Google or Bing
hmmm, i had completely opposite problem. i was searching for days on how to install bing search engine on my firefox address bar.Since I installed Windows 7 RTM, IE8 silently reverted to its default search provider 'Bing' and to being the default browser at least two times (on its own!)...
Re: Google or Bing
Google remains my search provider in IE8 in Windows 7 Pro and has never reverted back to Bing. I don't know why it should do that. ... JDH

Don't like Bing.
actually, I don't like the name, I think microsoft should have called it "bling"!!
I voted for Google, that is the best and always will be the best!
Google is my defualt provider on all my IBM's, my ThinkCentre running IE7 on Vista Ultimate and both my ThinkPads running IE8 on XP Pro.

Re: Google or Bing
Microsoft should have named it "thud" for all the impact it has had on the marketplace. As usual, they could not resist making the interface as visually annoying as possible.mattbiernat wrote:Now that Microsoft finally came up with a new search engine, I found Bing to be a refreshing change. Re: Google or Bing
I've been using Google for a long time and it's where I'll stay, unless I can find another site that does notably better. And, since I am not Microsoft's biggest advocate, it will probably have to be non-MS. Needless to say, I have yet to truly try Bing.

Re: Google or Bing
Google for me even though I do not agree with their big brother-ish tactics when it comes to their views on internet privacy. I use them because of the accuracy of the searches I conduct there.
I do not trust Bing.
