help: slow internet on thinkpad x21

having problems downloading large files even though i'm hooked into my cable line. if i use my home computer it will have no problems downloading files but if i use my laptop to download from the same site i will have a handicap. it ends up taking around 4-6 times longer. any idea why this is happening? i thought the RJ45 is ethernet so it should be pretty fast.

Sounds like a software issue. Maybe you have spyware on there or something..
