IBM X40 Issues

Hi Forum!! im new arround here and i want to ask about some issues that happended to me with my IBM X40.
one of them is about the X Base That Came With My Unit. note that the problem here is the eject mechanism that the base has. one day I was extracting the 2dary disk pulling the switch and all the thing, and the pull lever stucked, making me impossible to extract the removable device. the situation is that i cant extract normally any remobavle device, because the lever doesn´t came out anymore. anyone know a solution or a way to solve and repair the mechanism?

the second issue is about my LCD Display. My IBM has a Samsung Factory Original display, and some days earlier started to have less bright. I checked The Automatic Brightness and the hotkeys but doesn´t seems to be software

Welcome to the forum.

The Ultrabay lever mechanism may need cleaning. There is really no way to clean it without disassembling the unit.

As the computer gets older, the backlight will be dimmer. But this is a gradual process and not noticeable from day to day. It is not unusual for an old display to measure less than 100nit from 150nit when new.

If this is a sudden drop in brightness; it could be a failing CCF, inverter or the LCD cable.

ok! im gonna Check it out. the ultra bay seems to lost the hability of extract the removable devices, i cheked it and well...i have to accept that my ibm is not new hehe...

about the issue with my Lcd, i opened it, and I adjusted the bright bar on the downpart of the display and worked great!!
