Replacement battery

#1 Post by Barry10f » Fri Feb 18, 2005 2:28 pm

I have an Thinkpad X20 running Windows 2000 using an L-ion 3.8V 3.6AH battery. Can I replace the battery with an 14.4V battery? Does it require a BIOS change?

3.8 V battery?! That should be 10.8V, right?!

Where did you find the 14.4V battery? That isn't an IBM part, is it? I've seen these on eBay, but I always wondered if they actually work. Plus I would be a bit scared of damaging my machine by using some cheap knock-offs ...

Anyone here tried these batteries?

Are we talking about the difference between the 4 cell (02K665) and the 8 cell (02K6653)?

I think it's stuff like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 15331&rd=1

It's listed as an X20 replacement battery, but I'm somewhat doubtful.
