T41 lcd brightness bars not showing ..

I got a fresh Hd for my T41 and loaded all drivers for Xp.During some trouble the settings for displaying the bars on the lcd dont appear but the effects of reduction/increase take efect when Fn+<intensity key> is pressed.
How do I get it back..I can edit the registry if required.

Install the power management driver, the Lenovo system interface driver, and the Hotkey Utility driver, in that order.

I have downloaded the following. Are they the correct ones you wrote about?

7Jif12ww.exe and 7aVu43ww.exe
