what wifi driver should I choose ?

#1 Post by vladis » Sun Dec 13, 2009 8:45 am

Hi all,

I recently reinstall XP ( and I don´t remember what driver I was using ).

I installed system from original recovery cd´s and there were some issues with wifi driver, it works but not at all wifi networks like before. This recovery system fills about 6 Gb + 4 gb of hidden partition and I have small 20 gb hdd so this solution isn´t possible for me so I reinstalled OS again on XP pro + sp3 but no wifi driver works for me ( from ibm.com )

Now I am wondering to reinstall os back to my old version of XP pro that I had on the begining. And my question is how can I detect what wifi card I have ? ( I can´t open laptop because of stuck screw from keyboard )

I have x41 2525-6NG

any solutions ?

May I add that Harry did point to the right page, but the correct driver hyperlink to ver 12.04.0000 is at the bottom of the page. The adapter 2915abg is not supported in the newest driver.

thx for post. I installed drivers and software from harry´s page such as FP driver, power manager 3, active protective system.

I had to install wifi driver ( in vista compatibility ! ) from Intel page.
Also audio driver I used from ibm.com in XP compatibility ( in installation i choose run in xp mode ).

Only video driver is not installed yet, but video seems to work still correctly.

Now I can recommend Win 7 on laptop too !!

Wifi and BT is working much better than in XP. I don´t need to install any special apps on it.
Also I think that system is running faster than before.

only disadvantage is for me that my win 7 - pro takes about 8 gb of space from my small 20 gb hdd.
