Reverting the BIOS back to 74uj01us or version 1.00 on the Driver's Matrix page will do the job.
They are now up to version 2.09 and I found my X41 to be a little shaky after the install,
(I don't know how else to describe it) but it did get rid of the 2010 error.
The error starts on the second BIOS update.

Just swapped my X40 HD into the X41 I picked up and I'm getting that error (2 beeps - hit ESC or F1) too. It mentions updating the firmware on the drive. Is that the deal?

That's the general deal, however not all firmware is able to be modified to circumvent the error. It is drive dependent...it varies from drive to drive.

Try googling the following search terms:

Code: Select all

X41 "error 2010 removed"

It's that so annoying?? My understanding is that the error beeps twice and then you have to press ESC to continue. For me it doesn't seem worth trying to modify a BIOS os downgrading to an ancient version... but it's just me...

my 0,02 cents...

For me it doesn't seem worth trying to modify a BIOS os downgrading to an ancient version.
i saw what the earlier versions of bios fix...and i'm confused if downgrading to older version is the right thing to avoid the 2 beeps; then i have the last version that doesn't need to press esc..but automatically boot after beeps
so i'll see ....what to do!! :?:
the best would be that some modified bios or something like come out from lenovo or somobody else...but in the meanwhile...

Just saw the link Phil,

But it's in Chinese, can anyone confirm it's a modified BIOS based on version 2.09 without error 2010 checking?

Solution for 2010 error found! See this thread:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=92115

It's eliminated on T43 from this day. I suppose that the modder will mod BIOSes for X41 soon.

After all these years finally someone did it.
