Does T60p support active USB ports when suspended?

#1 Post by Sleepless » Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:18 am

I'm trying to charge my iPod when the laptop is suspended.
Couldn't find an option in the BIOS.
Any insights? Thanks.

The feature is called 'Always on USB'. I believe that feature started with T61's and X61's, but I know for a fact the T400's have it. If you get a powered USB hub, Bob is your uncle.

Enable Always On USB

When this checkbox is selected, USB power is supplied even when your ThinkPad computer is in standby mode, in hibernation mode, or turned off. This function works only when the computer power is supplied through an AC adapter. Always On USB is not supported for USB ports in Docking Station.

Really, weird. I definitely remember having that feature on my T60, maybe it's a Windows 7 thing? They have an option in the Power Options area to enable it. This is when the laptop is in sleep/stanby mode however not hibernate.

I used my laptop to charge my phone when i was driving from NYC to DC and i closed the lid and the system went to sleep but the port stayed active to charge it the whole way.
