T42p BIOS update: need help!
T42p BIOS update: need help!
Hallo,
I have a t42p (2373-htg) and I updated the BIOS just yesterday with the newer version. Everything went ok but I noticed I have the Embedded controller 3.03 while the README.TXT says that I should have the 3.04.
Should I update also the EC?
Moreover, when I made the setup procedure I was asked to select (2) System program and/or (3) Model name change or something like. I selected 2: should I repeat the thing and select 3?
Thanks a lot, C.

1. Yes, you should update the EC.Cecilia76 wrote:Hallo,

2. There is no need to use the model change function so far as I know.

I've updated the BIOS without updating the ECP to the "minimum required" before, and in fact I've been running my t42 for most of its 7-month life without a supported version of the ECP.
But the instructions do say to update the ECP first, so why not?

You have already updated the BIOS and the machine is still running. So just update the EC and carry on. There should not be any problem. I tried to use model change on my T41 and it didn't work (not a supported function), so I cannot tell you conclusively what it is supposed to do.Cecilia76 wrote:Thanks a lot for your answer.![]()
Do you think that will be a problem the fact that I updated the BIOS *BEFORE* than the EC?
What is exactly the model change update?
TIA, C.
