Turn off the display with MonOff 4

#1 Post by GomJabbar » Sun Dec 20, 2009 9:56 pm

I was bugged by the fact that I could not turn off the display backlight on demand in Windows 7 (or Windows Vista for that matter). Googled around a bit and found this little program that will do it. I created a shortcut icon on my desktop and click on that icon to turn the display backlight off. Turning it back on just requires a keypress. After downloading the .zip file, I extracted it and saved it's contents in a subfolder of "Program Files". I right-clicked on Monoff4 and chose: Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).

I installed Lenovo's Thinkvantage Power Manager.
Now if I RMB the battery icon on the task bar the top entry is "power off display".
Works fine.

That's good to know, but my Power Manager is only designed for T43's and newer. I have a T42. IIRC, I tried Power Manager in XP but had some problems with it.
