T23 and Intel 2200bg issue

I have been using a pcmcia wireless card on my t-23 since day one and today I installed an internal antenna and a brand new Intel Pro Wireless G 2200g mini-pci card. The driver installed the card without a prompt. My network's wireless router connects with the Intel card fine but wont let me connect to the internet and constantly reports "validating identity" when I check the status. I'm used to jumping through hoops but I never encountered this problem before. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
