T41/T42 DxVA support for USB 2.0 HDTV ?

#1 Post by arion » Sat Feb 19, 2005 5:57 pm

Does the T41 2373-7JM with ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 have DxVA support for USB 2.0 HDTV ?

Does the T42 2379-R9U with ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 have DxVA support for USB 2.0 HDTV ?

Has anyone used a USB HDTV Tuner with a laptop ?

Thanks

Do you think USB2.0 has enough bandwidth to support HDTV signal? I mean it is not an average wave, I hear the bandwidth reqs are big.

I think HDTV is suppose to be one of the features that the new PCCards are suppose to give us because it is a wider tunnel for more bandwidth.....and dont forget about the CPU reqs because it aint like watchin analog.

I dont know much about the issue, but here is what I do know wheather it is true or not.

If anyone knows...please post. I am curious as well.

Yeah HDTV and SDTV work but HDTV needs a lot more processing power if the video card does not support DxVA.

I have been using the TinyUSB2 USB 2.0 DVB-T TV tuner and it is unreal on my ThinkPads. The ThinkPads DO support DxVA very well.

Checkout this thread about the device.

To get 5.1 / 7.1 from my ThinPad I am going to get the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook.

the issue is not the bandwith. it is with processing. you only need 10gb per hour bandwith capability. the problem is to process 10 gb/h in real time. there are a few new gpu that can handle it for the computer but I think (if I remmeber what I read) you need to run pci express to take full advantage of High def.
