T61 fan and temp sensor?

what do you use to measure the core temperature? and what should it be?

Speedfan says both cores are at 37C

I think my T61's fan is not functioning and it is getting louder by the day. I've contacted lenovo support and someone will contact me tomorrow. I just want to make sure I'm not doing any damage to it by using it.
