Identifying X23 system board

#1 Post by Hater Depot » Tue Dec 29, 2009 3:19 pm

My X23 apparently doesn't have the complete model type printed on the bottom, but I need to know this in order to get a replacement system board. Is there any way to do this without booting into Windows (which I can't do)?

At least two things you can do:

- if you can power up the system enough to access the BIOS setup screen, then the first seven characters of the System-unit serial number is the model/TYPE number.
- you can get the FRU of the motherboard by removing the keyboard and removing the MiniPCI card. There's a label underneath that card which should have the motherboard's part number.

edit: Here's the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the X2 systems: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4UZMN7 The keyboard can be removed by taking out two screws on the bottom.
