ThinkPad inspired skin (images)

#1 Post by Colonel O'Neill » Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:37 pm

After looking at rounded Aero windows on my Windows 7 system, it feels quite out of place on such a boxy and sharp ThinkPad (I'm sure a few of you agree :P ).

So with a bit of spare time, I put together a concept skin and part of a TrueTransparency skin.

Incomplete TT skin:

Let me know what you guys think and I might just finish the entire skin!

(I'm not well versed in WindowBlinds skins or MS Theme files; I'm using Lefreut's TrueTransparency and WildBill's SmoothText on to skin Windows 2000 :D )

Hm.

To be honest, it's not very attractive. The red/black clash is a bit strong -- probably due to the red's lightness -- and the blue doesn't really go with much of anything.

Just my 0.02 though. Props for the effort though.

Yeah I didn't really like trying to jam the blue buttons in; I had an alternate design for the buttons/checkboxes, which fits better.

And I definitely agree with the fact of red being too strong; I was doing the Photoshop work on my T400's Samsung panel, where the reds are very muted. On my external, the red just is too sharp and vivid for the black. (D'oh!)

That's better.

Try inverting the red gradient such that the border is bright in the middle and fades out as it approaches the corners.
