T500 OSD Driver Questions.

#1 Post by BobHelms » Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:15 am

Hello;
I'm trying to get OSD working on my T500 W7 64 Pro system, I did an upgrade (clean install) from Vista 32 Ultimate. I had everything but the 'display brightness' setting working and somehow managed to fubar OSD completely. So I'm starting over and I understand I need to install the 'System Interface' driver, 'Power Manager' driver and 'Hot Key' driver in that order. I also understand that the 'Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family' display adapter must be the Lenovo version instead of the Intel version. How does one identify the Lenovo driver vs the Intel driver? I downloaded and installed the current display driver as listed on Lenovo's web site and it shows "Intel Corp" as the provider. TIA for any assistance provided.

If you download from Lenovo, then it is considered the Lenovo driver. If you download from Intel, then that would be Intel's version of the driver. Lenovo modifies Intel's, ATI's, and Nvidia's drivers for ThinkPads to support added Lenovo technologies.

Here's an update on this PITA project. My display driver was running at v8.15.10.1872? I don't have switchable graphics. The Lenovo web site says the current driver for my Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family display adapter should be v8.15.10.1855. I downgraded to that version and my OSD for screen brightness now works. One other point, the System Interface Driver must be manually installed from the directory it was downloaded to. I kept looking in Control Panel > Features and Programs and it wasn't there after I 'thought' the program had finished installing. Thank you GomJabbar. This has been quite a learning experience.
