x200 5-1 card reader goes missing

#1 Post by jreyes » Sun Jan 03, 2010 2:14 am

I have a new x200 out of the box.

ordered with 5-1 card reader in expansion slot and receipt from order cart shows installed with expansion 5-1 card reader with modem. -only problem i have is that i see the telephone jack on the right hand side of the laptop but don't see any "card readers" just a blank panel to the read of of the telephone jack. -- called customer support to ask what gives -- where is the reader -- answer was "call sales -- i don't know how to tell you how to use card reader" i could use it if i could find it -- i have to assume it wasn't installed or there is a secret button that opens some secret panel that accesses the card reader -- if so then i'm a dunce -- supposedly i'm supposed to call sales but not sure what they'll tell me -- would hate to send this laptop back just to have something reinstalled that is missing --

so question -- is the installed 5-1 card reader obviously visible? if not where is it hidden. -- is it possible to have a modem jack without either 5-1 or 3-1 card reader?

lenovo support (atlanta division) just burns me up -- not helpful in answering this question nor another question i posted separately.

The card slot for the card reader is the large wide opening immediately to the right of the latch lever on the front edge of the machine, seen clearly in the picture below. If it is "plugged", then remove the palm rest and investigate.
