Contrast control?

#1 Post by Rex » Sun Feb 20, 2005 6:19 am

I have a T22 and am (may be stupidly) thinking of doing some image editing with it. Photoshop, 50mb+ files etc.

Have been using a monitor profile program to set gamma, colour balance, etc, but the first question the program asks is to set brightness and contrast to the max.

Brightness is no problem; contrast is. There seems to be no contrast control on the T22 but is there a contrast control program available?

If image editing is not going to work too well on my T22, I will have to consider up-grading to a higher spec ThinkPad or (shock/horror) a desktop computer.

Many thanks in advance,

Rex

Hi Rex

One thing to note is that there is no seperate contrast setting for any LCD panel, because LCD screens are powered by backlights, not electron guns. The contrast setting can be achieved only through the software interface of the ATI settings. That said, check out the link below...

I have achieved a reasonable calibration of my 15" Flexview using the procedures outlined in the Norma Koren website...

Let me know how things turned out....

Sasha,

Thanks for that link; very helpful. I have been reading a whole lot on the Normen Koren (http://www.normankoren.com/ ) page and downloaded the various Gamma checkers. What a nightmare!

What is ATI and where do I find it?

Again, many thanks,

Rex

HI Rex

I assumed that your laptop has the ATI graphics card. ATI is the company that supplies the graphics cards for most of the Thinkpads. ATI settings can be found by here:

Right click on your desktop
Select Properties
Navigate to the Settings tab and click on the "Advanced" button.

Another window opens showing a lot of tabs labelled ATI., i.e, if you have an ATI graphics card and ATI drivers on your ThinkPad

Sasha,

Found it! Thanks.

My screen is not ATI S3 Savage (or something like that.)

No contrast control but some gamma settings sliders.
