is HD really 7200 rpm for G41?

#1 Post by temp@molinabird.com » Sun Feb 20, 2005 9:35 am

I just spoke with IBM and I wanted to make sure that one of the HD drives that is listed as an option under "customize" is really 60G - 7200 RPM. The rep at first said that it is not true. The fastest they have is 5400 then he loooked and said that if it is listed on a site then it is true ...

So I asked him for a part numer so i could take a look at the part description on IBM website and the rep could not find anything internally and he could not give me any info !!!!

Any of you know if it is correct and that HD is really 7200 RPM?

Thanks
Temp

As a custom model IBM can build machines with the 7200RPM drive, but the typical option is usually the 5400RPM model. The 60GB 7200 in the past was not exactly the most reliable thing out there .. but it has come a long way.

92P6551 is the FRU for the 60GB 7200RPM drive.

You can just tell them you want the same drive as the 183222U.

I order one from IBM and now wondering if AC adapter comes with it or I had to order it separately? Any ideas?

The AC adapter comes with it .. and is pretty huge. Incidentally, this is the same power supply brick that drives the docking station .. 120w is just so yummy! Heh.
