Tablet Functions and OS Choices?

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Thu Jan 07, 2010 11:25 am

Got a tablet but it has XP Pro on it instead of the Tablet Edition. sigh... ebay bites me again

My options to get the tablet functionally are what?

Find the Cds for XP Tablet 2005 (seem to be only sporadically available on eBay)
Buy Win 7 or Vista or... ( $80-100) since I don't have an edu addy

is there a Linux distro with them?

You won't find XP Tablet 2005 anywhere. It's not available for purchase. The only way you can get it is to purchase CDs bundled with your laptop model off eBay. You can also get it of MSDNAA, but you'd have to be a student. There's a lot of cool touch friendly apps on linux (like xournal which is 10 times better than Windows Journal), but they're not bundled, and nor is the touchscreen driver. Windows 7 works good out of the box, but make sure you have no less than 2gigs of RAM.

I managed to make a tablet edition iso using an OEM IBM Xp pro disk and everything seems to work on it.
