T41p and LCD TV

I got an LCD TV for my birthday, and I’d like to use it with my A31 and T41p. It has a VGA input, and can go up to XGA resolution. I’d like to have it mirror my T41p, but it will only do that if I scale down the T41p’s resolution to 1024X768. Is there a way to duplicate what’s on the display without me having to reduce the computer’s resolution?

I suggest you use the external monitor as an extended desktop for that extra space you may want, otherwise you just have to tone down your resolution on the laptop.

Although when you close the lid, the external display changes to primary, which I dislike, anyone perhaps know a fix for this small annoyance that I haven't found a solution yet?

With presentation director, the resolutions have to be the same --and I hate how it screws up my icons when I change back to the native resolution--is there a fix for that?
