Still Having T42 Startup Problems

#1 Post by 1885 » Sun Feb 20, 2005 10:19 pm

I've downloaded most of the newest drivers from the IBM matrix and installed them. All the network cards and the modem now function. But, I'm still having the same boot error I had in my earlier post.

The Thinkpad initial post screen comes up but when I press the Access button, it won't let me into the bios or test area. The system resets itself and starts all over again. It then goes to the next screen and shows the following: PXE-E61 Media test failure - check cable. Then goes out of the boot sometimes to Windows and sometimes to the safe mode/system restore screen. Anyone have any ideas what I might be missing?

I'm not certain, but that looks suspiciously like an Intel ethernet code - maybe check your bios to disable boot-on-lan and remove the nic from the active boot order listing?
