WTB: Restore discs for XP Tablet Edition

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Fri Jan 08, 2010 10:59 pm

Picked up an HP TC4200 to play with and need the Tablet edition for it to function as more than a heavier laptop with a swivel screen. Anybody? I have a valid COA but no media.

The Lenovo restore discs will not allow you to install on another machine. It "might" be possible to pull the i386 folder off and "upgrade" from a normal XP install, but I tried to update XP Home on a toshiba to XP Pro from an IBM in the past with no luck, (although it did work thinkpad to thinkpad going from Win 2000 to XP). Your best bet would be to get the restore image for THAT computer. Have you called HP?

Yeah HP is out of them now. Guess I could go to Vista (LOL) but it's just a "laying beside the nightstand playtoy" so I'm reluctant to spend any real significant money that I couldn't get back.

Thanks

I have an OEM clean version of XP Tablet. I could rip it and upload the image if you want. Or send you a copy. Shoot me an email when you get a chance

What does that mean?

FYI I'm interested. Would much prefer to install from a real disc (if that's what it is) than a restore disc.

I uploaded an image for David of the XP Tablet ISO. PM me if you would like the links to it. You will need your own valid serial.
