I have two more question concerning the cables that you are about to order. From the picture that you posted I count 13 strands (I cannot see it clearly since I am still @ 1024x768). Now from the HV121P0 datasheet I see that there are pairs of differentially driven data lines separated by ground connections (RIN0-, RIN0+, GND, RIN1-, RIN1+, GND, ...). In my eyes these ground lines are there in order to prevent excessive crosstalk between the fast switching data lines. That's why my first question is whether some of the grounds will be omitted in our cable (explaining why there are < 20 wires) and if yes, what is the reason for omitting them? Second question: will the cable be made out of normal wires or will they use micro coax cables (no idea how this should work but I know that these Hirose connectors can somehow be stuffed with micro coax).

That was my only cable left before I shipped it and the cables I ordered have not arrived yet, so I can't take a look at the cable right now, but from what I remember, some voltage lines are also omitted. I don't know why though. The seller claims it will still work with no problems.

Hi, I normally use .co.uk and select the ship international option and found nothing so tried the .com and found the USA only sellers.
.co.hk has either been hijacked or isn't owned by ebay since it's just one of those trash search engine/advert sites.

The seller like-new-laptops has one -100 panel left, but lists only in USA eBay and only has USA shipping listed. However if you ask nicely they will ship internationally.

Check his recent feedback to see how well people have gone with the 'best offer' - you can do much better than US$250.

My cables have arrived - thanks Phil.

However, I'm not sure I will be using them for this mod as when I connect the SXGA+ screen with the cable I'm getting a lot of shimmer on the LCD.
The shimmer is displayed in the Thinkpad splash screen, GRUB boot screen, the windows desktop, the Ubuntu desktop. Interesting that the image when resuming Ubuntu from hibernation is stable - although it only shows a very small graphic and one line of text.

I'm wondering if this is due to interference from the non screened cables in the adapter cable ?

Has anybody else got it working with this cable ?

BTW - I'm not after a refund on the cable - I can use the connectors in another project if the cable is unworkable.

when I connect the SXGA+ screen with the cable I'm getting a lot of shimmer on the LCD.

This might be the same problem I had with the cable I build for myself. I also used non-coax wires. I ended up wrapping the whole cable in aluminium tape. The wires must be arranged as a ribbon, not in a bundle. Also the aluminium must be connected to ground on one of the connectors. Hope this helps.

I received the cable from Phil_123!
A word of warning though (nothing personal, Phil_123!), check the cable before using it, mine had a couple of bad solder points on the connector. But after a little fixing and securing the solder points with hot glue and kapton tape, the cable seemed ok. I wrapped the cable in aluminium tape to cut off the interference.
So far the picture quality is great, loving the SXGA+ screen!
