The tawbook.pdf says that the first T2x system that shipped with XP was the T23 in October 2001. Note that the tawbook does not list ALL of the Thinkpad models. Looking at the T2x Hardware Maintenance Manual, the recovery CDs for XP is only listed with the T23. So it looks like that's what you have! If you have pictures of the system, then check the back panel: one USB port = T20-T22, two USB ports = T23. Also, the bottom of the system can tell you: the MiniPCI cover is almost square for the T20-T22 and rectangular for the T23. And, the location of the TYPE/SN label differs: T20-T22 has it below the MiniPCI cover; T23 has it below the large IBM sticker.

Ok this is probably an older T23 somebody put a new XP sticker on (SN is below the minipci cover).

Thanks for the help.

That response does not compute :) . Here's two pictures:

If the serial number is below the MiniPCI cover, then it's a T20, T21 or T22. If it's below the IBM label, that's a T23. At least that's been my experience with the way that the systems came to me. However, if somebody moved the sticker, they still can't disguise the fact that the T20-T22 systems have a smaller, square MiniPCI cover than the one on a T23. I would use that, along with the single vs. dual USB ports in deciding what you have.

Sorry I meant to say somebody could have upgraded the machine with a XP COA sticker.

Pic I seen looks like the older model with the 2647 being under the smaller trapdoor like the T20 picture you have.

Unfortunately, any T2x can be 2647...so go with Ray's suggestions regarding the USB ports and mini PCI cover...
