T60 screen upgrade issues

#1 Post by zzhails » Sun Jan 17, 2010 2:09 am

Okay i got a screen off ebay p/n 07N0270 which corresponds to IBM p/n 13N7194 I found on Lenovos site. I then got an 42T0079 inverter. Now none of the status light works and the screen will not work unless only the left side of the connecter is engauged. If the right side is not touching the on the connector the screen works. and the wireless led. Is this a bad inverter or could a fuse have blown onthe mobo. thank you.

Go slow, provide links to parts information, and tell us what the parts are and why you selected them. I for one am not going to look up part numbers to try to figure out what you are talking about...maybe someone else will. Might help to tell us the exact machine type and model T60 you have there too.

FRU 13N7194 is a BOE-Hydis 15" UXGA FFS (sRGB) "Flexview" Display and 42T0079 is an SXGA+/UXGA Inverter card. These parts should match in combination.
I looked up parts information from ThinkWiki and 15 inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T60, T60p, but I couldn't find information about 07N0270 on any IBM/Lenovo sites.

What type of display was the original one? If XGA, then you would need another display cable. If SXGA+, then try your old inverter (you only need to swap panels if upgrading from SXGA+ to UXGA).

My laptop was a regular T60 and the mobo went out so I got a firegl model as a replacemnet and decided to up the screen to uxga. I used the same video cable as they appeared to be the same unless you wanted bluetooth.

Turn the machine over. Look at the sticker on the bottom. Post the machine type and model here. It is a (7) digit alpha numeric, for example 2347-3CU.

07N0270 sounds like the IDtech IAUX14 panel, used in A31p. It's still a Flexview panel, and the resolution is also UXGA.

Are you completely sure the LCD cable is seated correcty and safely seated in the motherboard connector? Any damage to the LCD cable - in particularly near the Y-joint, where the cable to the inverter "begins"? At least for the T4x series, it used to be a very fragile point and easy to damage.

I sort-of remember that being the panel from a T43??? If that is a screen from an earlier Thinkpad (T43, T42, A31) it won't have the EEID flashed and it will not work and it might damage the motherboard. There must be an FRU number near the p/n
