Hi all!
I use Thinkpad T61 (7664-R5G) and Window 7 RC with Power Manager, and my problem is the following.
I set Maximum Battery Life option in Power Manager, where I set the CPU speed option to the Lowest. However, when I enable the option, my CPU keeps up the 2,4Ghz, and the remaining time and wattage is the same.
What should I check, or do? I am struggling with short battery time. :S
Thanks for all the replies in advance.
CPU at max speed all the time
Re: CPU at max speed all the time
If you set the CPU speed to 'adaptive' in Power Manager and let the machine idle, does the CPU speed ratchet down? What are you using to look at CPU speed?
Re: CPU at max speed all the time
OK, I installed the new Power manager, and restarted my computer, and now it reduces clockspeed to 800Mhz. I don't know what was the problem, but right now it seems to be OK.Harryc wrote:If you set the CPU speed to 'adaptive' in Power Manager and let the machine idle, does the CPU speed ratchet down? However, I still face short battery time, as my power consumption -according to Power manager- 24W. :S With my 9 cell battery it can hold 4 hours, 4:30 tops (10% screen brightness, wifi on, BT off, broswing and IDE (eclipse, java development) ).
Is it normal to use that much energy? Even if I have nVidia NVS140M, I doubt that 4 hours from a 9cell battery is OK.
