Screen problem

#1 Post by dyre » Sun Jan 17, 2010 11:15 am

Hi all

Ive got a strange problem with my lcd screen in my x61s. In the past couple of months i have noticed that my screen is dimmer around the edges of the lcd.
To describe it, it seems as if the screen is brighter in the middle square of the lcd, and darker in the near of the edges! - quite difficult to explain when english isn't my primary language ;)

Well ive attached a picture of it, marking what i mean. - inside the black square, which i have marked, the screen seems reasonably bright, and outside somewhat dimmer. ( look away from the bright chunk in the bottom of the screen, just due to the the crappy camera in my blackberry and bad lighting conditions.

Anyone have an idea to what might been causing this problem?

It's due to uneven backlighting, which is a result of a weak CCFL.

So is this standard for the x61s, or a common problem occurring over time?
And is there anything i can do to fix it, maybe buy a replacement lcd on ebay fx?

A new replacement LCD would fix the problem. It is a standard defect over time as the CCFL weakens.
