Bluetooth Mouse for T42p?

#1 Post by kjarrett » Mon Feb 21, 2005 12:11 pm

Hi all,

Anyone have one of these for their T?

Recommendations?

I tried searching but came up with a million hits for "bluetooth" and "mouse," but not the info I needed.

Thanks,

Hi kjarrett,

I use the Logitech MX900 with my T41p. Works awesome and it's probably the best bluetooth mouse available. I finally managed it to use it without the external bluetooth hub, just with the built in bluetooth instead.

Travellig isn't an issue either, just have a couple of charged batteries with you (just in case). Switching on and off while travelling is done by a simple piece of paper to cut off the battery circuit.

Awesome mouse for an awesome notebook!

I have an MX700 on my Dell desktop and love it.

The MX900 is probably a beauty - but may be overkill for my needs.

I will only need it 1/2 the time - only when I'm using the T42p on a table, like now. When it's on my lap, no way...

I'll check it out though - thanks!

What is the average battery life for bluetooth mouse? Do they last about a month or more?

My logeitech wireless (not bluetooth) lasts over a month.
I am just wondering about the power consumption of bluetooth devices.

At least for the travel versions, I hear they last a few days on batteries if you leave them on constantly. If you use the power switch, they'll last for a few weeks/months with regular usage.

It wasn't an order (I said please), it was a suggestion! We're doing our best to make this a friendly and useful board. Location information is useful so answers given can be more specific to the area the originator is in, and is also just nice to know. In particular, I like to see the Senior Members set an example for the others. If one is concerned about privacy, one need not put in overly specific information. If someone in truly against it, it is certainly NOT an obligation as you so nicely and politely pointed out.

Eventhough I can't get my thumb button to work with my built-in BT with IBM driver, (works good with MS BT driver, except can't upload pic from my phone)... I still love MS BT intellimouse explorer, it feels good on the hand, I like the scroller, it doesn't click, and eventhough it has two battery slots, it works with only one battery, so it's lighter to use. Just get yourself some rechargeable battery, you are good to go. with just one battery, it last me about... 15-20 days of juice, that's using it for 13 hours a day (on and off)

go to your local best buy to check it out, everyone's perference are different.. so try it out before you buy.

I here will second the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth.

I'd actually like a smaller mouse but after noticing that many of the other Bluetooth mice did not have thumb buttons (the ones normally used for forward and backward for web browsers) my choices were limited to the offerings from Microsoft and Logitech.

The Logitech is loaded with nifty features and many more buttons than the Microsoft unit but I decided on the Microsoft for the same reason I choose an IBM Thinkpad over a Sony, Dell, Toshiba, etc.. The feel of the mouse along with the button presses felt much more solid than the Logitech.

As another person suggested, go to a local store and try them out. You're preferences may vary.

What, you dont want it to be a friendly and useful forum as well? I mean, heaven forbid someone should assume everyone else has a good attitude as well.....

Thank you kjarret & benz! I'm sure that both nonny and ian meant/mean well, as they have both been valuable contributors to this board. Sometimes, the written word looks/feels different than the author intended, and/or an attempt at humor becomes miscommunicated (or WE have a bad day :-)).

In any case, back to the thread! I am waiting anxiously for kjarrets review of the new Bluetooth Mouse!

Mx900, that is the best option. If you are going to buy a SUV with 4x4 drive would you buy a BMW, I think I would go with Jeep or Landrover. I would buy from a company that specializes in a product....not a dabbler.... the mice are same price and it works in linux...go with logictech

I bought a "Stowaway Travel Mouse" by Think Outside today at CompUSA. It seems pretty good so far. My T42 recognized it right away.

http://www.thinkoutside.com/btmouse_product.html

It's a little expensive, but I wanted something small and just didn't like the looks of the others. It has a nice, smooth scroll wheel and an on/off switch. I think it is 800 dpi. And it's been getting some pretty good reviews.

It will also work with a pocketPC.

I also bought the ThinkOutside Stowaway mouse after reading lots of very positive reviews. I looked at it at CompUsa, but eCost.com has it for only $50. There may be even better prices elsewhere on the web, but I have had good luck with eCost and their reasonable $9.99 overnight shipping.

Dag-nabit! The ThinkOutside looks great. It is not rechargeable, but a set of NiCad AAAs solves that. It appears to be a nice design.

The Anycom is smaller and lighter, which may be good or bad:

Anycom: 1,12 x 1,88 x 3,397 inch, 48 grams w/o batteries
TO: 3.74" x 2.17" x 1.38", 75 grams (batteries?)

Ugh. It's a net of $20 more vs. the Anycom at eCost. Sometimes it's better not to be so impulsive I guess. Anyway, I'll post my review as soon as I get it.
