Rescue and recovery failed

Help!!! I bought a reconditioned t42 turned it on went through the windows new user stuff and to the Desktop. went to change the Desktop settings and it blue screened on me. Restarted got about 5min in and received the blue screen again (don't remember the error code) so i figured I had a bad XP image and would restore with R and R. Well R and R ran for a min and popped with "Recovery has failed" restarted and then got error message no os found. called IBM they sent me out a new drive and recovery disks. Installed new drive and ran the recovery CDs, now everytime i restart it goes straight to R and R and will not load XP. Any Ideas????????

didn't work either, I just went ahead and sent it into IBM. Thanks for the help

Another solution that would have been worked is the following procedure (for alle other reader of this thread):

1. Deleting all partitions (with fdisk or whatever)
2. Boot with Linux Live CD
3. Clear the MBR with following command:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1
4. Use the IBM Recovery CD's

This procedure works always, so there is no need to send it in for repair.
