WPA Support with A31p

#1 Post by zamir-h » Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:48 pm

I got A31p laptop and install all needed SW/Drivers as recommanded in Lenovo site. The only think that doesnt work with my home wireless (g, WPA) is the internal wireless board. It has only WEP encryption. So, I forced to use external adaptor. I wonder if it is posible to get driver/SW compatible with WPA.
My driver was loaded from 1awc32ww.exe file and firmeware from wirefirm.exe
I am using win xp sp3

Welcome to the forum!

The original wireless/modem combo card that A31p was shipped with supports only WEP. For a higher-grade encryption you'll have to swap the card to an Intel 2200BG or Broadcom 4306/4309, and likely apply the "1802 hack".

Hope this helps.

I swapped out the wireless card in my A31p for an Intel one, and didn't have to apply the 1802 patch. Mini-pci cards are plentiful on eBay.
