X40: is a CPU upgrade possible?

#1 Post by roibm » Tue Feb 22, 2005 8:40 am

I'm interested about an X40 and I was wondering whether a CPU upgrade is possible... is it?
I know it has to be an ULV processor and all, and I also know there aren't many choises out there(up to 1.4 or 1.5GHz) and I don't even know if I need an upgrade since the machine will be exclusively used for development(no games, nor something multimedia). I plan for 1Gb RAM.

thanks for any feedback.

hmmm... not nice, not nice @ all
as about the hdd, I really don't think I need anything faster since I'll be using linux, only RAM and no swap partition, meaning minimum hdd I/O

any P-m will be fine for development... the x40 has quite a bit of power especially when you up the memory... this coming from someone who is happy on an x20 still...... p3-600 320mb ram 5400 rpm drive

You could always order the uplevel planar with faster processor. Might cost you a small fortune but swapping it out would give you faster performance.

Ya you could always order in the FRU part of the higher processor planar board .. and install that to get to 1.4Ghz.
