T42 recovery CD #4 and 5?

When you use the recovery CDs to reinstall windows XP on a T42, you only use the CD # 1, 2 and 3. What are the CDs # 4 and 5 for?

You're doing something wrong...or your disks are defective...

BTW, that set should have 8 disks...

I have 5 disks, and they are all required. They work for multiple systems, rebuilding the recovery partition. not sure what the last 3 disks are for?

Are you guys certain that these are for T42/p, and not for T40/p or T41/p?

Mine may be for t41 (that is what I have), but I have a t42 motherboard (courtesy Superior Reball), and they worked fine on that (including the Intel 2200bg wifi card).

Mine are OEM IBM Thinkpad T42 and 42P Only 5 cds. The last 2 are maybe for recovery, I never used them as I always reinstall on a bigger Hard drive.

Recovery is usually on the first two disks, or at least on the very first one.

I'm baffled since my set - for T42/p - has 8 disks, and every machine I've installed it on (think dozens) has used all of them...

My T43 set has a R&R disk, a Supplemental disk, and 6 disks numbered 1 thru 6. Supplemental disk is requested twice while restoring a system.

T43 has a slightly different setup when compared to T42 regarding the recovery media...
