On ibm's website they claim they have a firmware flash for hard drives to fix the 2010 error on specific models, has anyone ever tried it?

That firmware update works literally on a handful of drives, mostly older ones...

I've tried it with several drives that were supposed to be covered and got absolutely nowhere.

The only ones where it had make a difference were older IBM/Hitachi OEM drives...

My $0.02 only...

The problem with only a few drives working is related to the fact that all non-Thinkpad OEM Hitachi hard drives are missing a writable flash area to make the firmware work.
