Thinkpad 240 hibernates automatically on startup

#1 Post by giants » Wed Jan 27, 2010 4:54 pm

Hi, I recently picked up a Thinkpad 240 running XP Pro. When I start it up, right after Windows loads, it goes right into hibernation mode. If I hit the power button, it comes right up into Windows with no problem. It's plugged in and the battery is 100% charged.

Can anybody think of any reason it would automatically go into hibernation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes the hibernation/suspend swich is bad or stuck. We used to have that issue with 600's a lot. You can pull the swich and solder the contacs so they stay open or just replace the swich.
