T60P and AutoCAD Zoom Problem

#1 Post by Jaccen » Thu Jan 28, 2010 10:39 pm

Hello all.

First time Lenovo user and I've got a bit of a problem I can't seem to lick. In AutoCAD, one can quickly and easily zoom in and out using the mouse wheel. With my old Compaq, the scroll up and down strip on the trackpad would do this. I've got AutoCAD 2009 on my T60P and it doesn't seem to register. It works in all my other programs (ie. it scrolls a webpage up and down in Firefox).

Extensive googling has told me that it's a config issue in Windows as there's often a conflict between specialized mouse drivers and the ones AutoCAD expects (ie. default Windows drivers).

Usually, I'd just uninstall the Ultranav drivers and see what happens, but that's not an option. I don't know if it's just my laptop, but without them I've got a weird problem where using the top 1/3 of the trackpad causes the cursor to "leap" up and down on the screen. The bottom 2/3 of the trackpad doesn't cause this. I've verified in Ubuntu and the default Windows 7 drivers. In XP and Win7, installing the Ultranav drivers solves it. So they have to stay.

SUMMARY:

Does anyone here have any experience getting the trackpad scroll function working in AutoCAD to zoom?

Or, does anyone know how to key bind zoom in and zoom out in AutoCAD? :(

Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
What OS are you using?
Have you tried another palmrest (or yours on another machine)?
Assuming ATI Gfx, have you tried the latest and greatest from ATI, Lenovo and perhaps the best: Omega?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
