Z60t Power Manager locks up XP SP3 whenever it loads!

#1 Post by Aelon » Sat Jan 30, 2010 8:05 pm

So this z60t of mine is a 'corp refurb' and came with a mostly clean XP SP3.

It had the thinkpad fingerprint reader and ultranav software installed but no other thinkvantage software. I thought it would be a good idea to install the thinkvantage power manager, if nothing else, then just to confirm this battery is a gonna... but whenever I try it, on reboot the entire machine just freezes dead just after the PM loads up. Not BSOD, complete lockup. Not even mouse movement.

I've tried installing ACPI driver, system interface driver, as well as PM, thinking these are probably needed to make Power manager work, but it still freezes.

Anyone help me get it working?
My Z60t
1.8ghz Intel
1GB DDR2 RAM
120GB Sata HDD
Bluetooth and Wifi
Fingerprint thingy of doom :D
Arch Linux.

Remove the battery and try it again.

Nope. Battery removed or present, it still locks up.

I have no concrete idea on this one. I'd try a fresh Windows install and the first thing I'd try to install is power manager.
