Changing out WLAN cards

#1 Post by iam8up » Tue Feb 02, 2010 2:40 am

From what I see there are two options for the T500. An Atheros BG card and an Intel 5350 AGN card.

Not a fan of Intel cards (in Linux especially!)

I'm wondering if anyone has tried using a "random" Atheros card in the T500. My main focus is A and G. N is a bonus, not that big a deal. The AR9280 looks very suitable for my needs.

Random? Not a good idea because Thinkpads normally accept only IBM/Lenovo parts. They have whitelists in BIOS for those cards that will work. The BIOS can be 'fixed' to change that.

Understood! However, let me note simply that the Intel 5350 is not an Intel 3945!!! -- it will not disappoint.
