IBM R32 GPU problem

#1 Post by newmind » Tue Feb 02, 2010 6:52 am

Hi I have some problems with my thinkpad R32 /model 2658/. Watch my video on youtube for better imagine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H4aesP6Pyg

It happens yesterday, I was surfing on the web and lcd screen was blank with white stripe on the top. I was looking for some similiar topic and I think it may be a ATI GPU problem. Cause when I take presure on book there are some changes /more in video.../ So what can I do to fix this problem? I watched som videos, but the problem was IBM T4series..(heat gun, change motherboard or buy new boook:D

Thanks for advices and sorry for my poor english.

I think you are right, I think that you have a common ATI graphics issue on your laptop...
Sadly, I don't know what you can do to solve this problem, but I'm sure somebody on here does?

My guess would be that it's the LCD cable or the screen itself, and not the GPU.

When you move the lid up and down, does anything change?

What happens if you hook the machine to an external monitor?

I'm afraid the second post is probably spot on, though ajkula66 is quite right that connecting the laptop to an external monitor would make certain. Basically once attached to an external monitor if you get similar effects, then the issue will be with your GPU rather than lcd.
