As usual, MS has a special “student” offer for Windows 7 (Home Premium and Pro). I was asked whether the EULA for this offer in any way restricts transfer of the OS license.
Clearly, academic and OEM software have restrictions on transferability. The faq on the student discount offer site states eligible students are allowed to purchase one copy of either Home Premium or Pro, but no mention is made of any restriction on subsequent transfer of the license.
Does the EULA for the student discount offer restrict subsequent transfer of the license or is the EULA similar (or identical) to the retail version?
Thanks in advance.

Re: A Windows 7 student discount offer licensing question
I would suspect there is a restriction on subsequent transfer and that the college just didn't take the time to include the info in the FAQ. My daughter attends a Wisconsin University and here is what is listed on their software purchase web page.......
"Please note that the products sold here are only for use by the student purchaser; they may not be sold, given, or loaned to anyone else. "
and......
"Adobe and Microsoft software sold through this site includes a perpetual license, meaning that you can continue using it even after you graduate (license terms from other manufacturers vary)."
Unfortunately I've never read the entire EULA otherwise I would have a more definative answer for you. I did note on the Windows 7 CD it was imprinted on the label that it was a student / faculty version that could not be sold, transfered or copied.

Re: A Windows 7 student discount offer licensing question
Thanks for the reply. I believe you're referring to academic versions sold through/by colleges. My question relates to this offer:
http://www.win741.com/#Buy
which is an offer direct from MS and may not be an academic version.
